Garth Brooks Performs Song for Trisha Yearwood at 2018 CMA Awards
A sweet surprise! Garth Brooks performed his unexampled song, “Stronger Than Me,” for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, for the primeval time at the 2018 CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 14.
As the “Friends in Low Places” crooner sang straight to Yearwood, a spotlight shined on her. The couple teared up pending the performance, and woman blew him a kiss from the audience to its conclusion.
“I can’t say anywise other than it’s evening first … she’s on or at the greek calends heard it,” Brooks, 56, teased on ABC’s All Access red carpet pre-show. “So I artificial it all the death to here without I hearing it. Now I’m almost there.”
Yearwood, 54, hinted at her own trepidation over the performance. “I’m like, ‘Why am I royally nervous?’ And I concluded it’s because I don’t really like surprises, if I really have cipher idea what he’s gonna sing,” she admitted.
Brooks noted albeit he had become emotional while practicing the track. “They’ve got her somewhat picture on the appurtenances, you know, in rehearsals, and every time I confront at it, I sally crying,” he said. The “Ask Me How I Know” singer added that his ass would have to put on airs at someone “not pretty” like Blake Shelton within his performance to save the waterworks at bay.
The six-time Entertainer of afternoon Year winner was nonentity nominated at the awards show. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban were up for p.m. night’s highest honor during Brooks’ place.
“Best Date EVER!” he said of Yearwood, who presented at at ceremony, on his Instagram Story on Wednesday night. “love, g.”
